Galapagos Cruise Prices 2027 Per Person: What You Actually Pay by Ship Class

Galapagos cruise prices for 2027 depend mostly on ship class and trip length. This guide gives per-person ranges from tourist to luxury for 4, 5 and 8 days, what the fare includes, what is extra and how to compare quotes fairly.

Galapagos cruise prices for 2027 are driven by two things above all: the class of the boat and the number of nights. A 4-day tourist-class yacht and an 8-day luxury catamaran can differ by a factor of five, even though both follow park-assigned itineraries with certified naturalist guides. Below are realistic per-person ranges we see in published 2027 rates, with one rule: always verify the current fare before you book, because operators update prices and promotions through the year. Traveling as a family or group of friends? Galapagos charters let you choose the route, the timing and who is on board.

Galapagos cruise prices 2027: what is the quick answer?

Quick answer: expect roughly US$2,000 to 3,500 per person for 4 to 5 days in tourist or tourist superior class, US$3,500 to 6,000 for first class, and US$6,000 to 12,000 or more for luxury yachts and expedition ships on 8-day routes. Prices are per person in a shared double cabin; solo travelers usually pay a supplement.

How do prices change by ship class and trip length?

The table below shows typical 2027 per-person ranges in a double cabin, cruise fare only. They are ranges, not quotes, and exclude flights and park fees.

Ship class 4–5 days (per person) 8 days (per person) Typical boat
Tourist / tourist superior US$2,000–3,500 US$3,500–5,500 16-guest motor yacht
First class US$3,500–6,000 US$5,500–8,500 16-guest yacht or catamaran
Luxury US$5,500–9,000 US$8,000–12,000+ 16–20 guest catamaran or yacht
Expedition ship US$4,500–8,000 US$7,000–11,000 48–100 guest ship

Longer cruises cost more in total but usually less per night, and they reach remote islands such as Genovesa, Fernandina or Española that short routes often skip. See the 8-day Galapagos cruise guide if you are comparing lengths.

What does the cruise fare include, and what is extra?

Most Galapagos cruise fares include the cabin, all meals on board, guided shore visits with a certified naturalist guide, panga (dinghy) rides, snorkeling gear and transfers between the airport and the boat on the islands. Many luxury boats add wetsuits, kayaks and soft drinks.

What is normally not included: flights from mainland Ecuador to Baltra or San Cristóbal, the Galapagos National Park entry fee, the Transit Control Card, alcoholic drinks, tips for crew and guide, and travel insurance. Our Galapagos cruise cost page breaks down each item.

Why do two similar boats have very different prices?

Two 16-guest yachts can be priced thousands apart. Common reasons: cabin size and balconies, the age and refit date of the vessel, the guide-to-guest ratio, the quality of the itinerary (remote islands cost more fuel and permits), and season. Holidays such as Christmas, New Year and Easter carry the highest rates; some boats discount in May, September and October.

How should you compare quotes from different sellers?

Ask every seller the same five questions: the exact departure date and itinerary, the cabin category and deck, what is included, the payment and cancellation terms, and whether the price includes the flight to the islands. Put the answers side by side. A cheaper fare that excludes the flight or uses a lower deck cabin may not be cheaper at all.

Which costs surprise first-time Galapagos cruisers?

The most common surprise is that the cruise price is not the trip price. Travelers budget for the fare, then discover the island flight, the park fee and the Transit Control Card add US$600 or more per person. The second surprise is the single supplement: solo travelers can pay 50 to 100 percent extra unless the boat offers a share program or a dedicated single cabin.

A third surprise is the gap between “from” prices and real prices. Advertised rates often apply to the lowest cabin category on a low-season date. When you choose your actual month, a main-deck cabin and the 8-day route you want, the fare can rise by 20 to 40 percent. That is not a trick; it is simply how inventory pricing works on boats with only eight cabins.

Finally, payment terms matter. Many boats ask for a deposit of 20 to 30 percent and full payment 60 to 90 days before departure, with strict cancellation rules. Factor that into the price comparison, and consider insurance that covers cancellation.

Is a more expensive Galapagos cruise always better?

Not always. Every licensed boat follows a park-approved itinerary, uses certified naturalist guides and visits the same protected sites under the same rules. What you pay more for is comfort (cabin size, stabilizers, balconies), service, food, the guide-to-guest ratio and, very often, the itinerary. A first-class yacht on an excellent 8-day route can deliver a better trip than a luxury boat on a short route that spends time on transfers.

Decide what matters most to you: the islands and species, the comfort level or the total budget. Then compare boats within that priority, not across every class at once. Our compare Galapagos cruises guide walks through this step by step.

Frequently asked questions about Galapagos cruise prices

How much is a Galapagos cruise per person in 2027?

Most travelers pay between US$2,000 and US$12,000 per person for the cruise alone, depending on ship class and length. Verify current fares before booking.

Are Galapagos cruise prices per person or per cabin?

They are almost always quoted per person based on two guests sharing a cabin. Solo travelers usually pay a single supplement.

Is the park entry fee included in Galapagos cruise prices?

Usually not. The Galapagos National Park entry fee for foreign adults is paid separately on arrival, as is the Transit Control Card.

When are Galapagos cruises cheapest?

Shoulder months such as May, September and October often have lower rates or promotions. Holiday departures are the most expensive.

Do Galapagos cruise prices include flights?

Rarely. Most fares exclude the round-trip flight from Quito or Guayaquil to the islands, so add it to your budget.
