03 / HOW ROUTES WORK

Rules that shape every itinerary

Permits

Each boat holds set itineraries approved by the Galapagos National Park.

Rotation

Boats cannot revisit the same site too often, which spreads visitors out.

Length

Most boats sell 4, 5 and 8-day sections of a longer cycle.

Flights

Routes start and end at Baltra or San Cristóbal airports.

Guides

Every landing is led by a park-accredited naturalist.

Changes

The park can adjust routes; boats then re-plan.
