Entry, Permits & Park Rules

What can't I bring into the Galapagos?

Galapagos runs strict biosecurity checks to keep invasive species out. Before your flight from Quito or Guayaquil, checked bags are inspected by the Galapagos Biosecurity Agency (ABG) and sealed; hand luggage is checked again on arrival, and travel between inhabited islands is inspected too.

As a rule, do not pack fresh fruit, vegetables, seeds, flowers, plants, soil, live animals, unprocessed animal products, or untreated wood. Clean mud and seeds off hiking boots, tripods and gear before you leave home.

Sealed, processed snacks are usually allowed, but the official list of prohibited, restricted and permitted products is the authority, and it is updated. Check it before packing; undeclared items are confiscated at inspection.

Facts last checked October 5, 2026. Fees and rules change; confirm with the official source before you travel.
