Money, Costs & Tipping

How much should I tip on a Galapagos cruise?

Tipping is customary on Galapagos cruises and charters and is usually not included in the fare. Most vessels suggest a range in their pre-trip information, typically split between a shared crew pool and the naturalist guide.

A commonly quoted total ballpark is roughly US$20–40 per guest per day, with the guide often receiving a separate envelope; higher-end vessels may suggest more. Tips are usually given in US dollar cash on the last evening or morning.

On land-based trips, tip day-tour guides and boat crews a few dollars each, and check restaurant bills, which often already include a 10% service charge. Tips remain discretionary: adjust them to the service you received.
